Modernity is a leading gallery in Stockholm, Sweden, dealing in 20th century design.
We specialize in Scandinavian Design: furniture, ceramics, glass, lighting and jewellery.
Our range consists of both well known classics and rare pieces by artists such as Hans Wegner,
Arne Jacobsen, Alvar Aalto, Axel Salto, Berndt Friberg, to name but a few. The emphasis is on post-war design.
Modernity supplies pieces to international collectors and museums. Our busy central showroom has also become a
meeting place for anyone interested in 20th century design.
The aim is to sell pieces in as good original condition as possible, but since the stock is vintage there may be some wear.
If you don't have the possibility to visit the showroom you can order by phone or online.
Foreign payments can be made by wire transfer or credit card. The buyer pays for any transport but we can arrange
packing and shipping. The customer is also responsible for any eventual customs and import charges.
We update the website approximately once a month. If you would like to be added to our mailing list please send
us an e-mail by clicking . You will automatically be notified when we update.
We offer a source facility where clients can request that we find specific items on their behalf.
From Scotland to Sweden
After a lengthy career in design retailing, Andrew Duncanson started Modernity in 1998 after moving from Scotland to Sweden.
The gallery is situated in large premises in the heart of the design district of
Östermalm in the centre of Stockholm.
Modernity is a member of the Swedish Art & Antique Association, and consequently a member of the international art and antique association CINOA.
Modernity's website has received Forbes Magazine's award "Best of the Web".
We exhibit regularly at antique- and design shows in Sweden and abroad, and also arrange our own in-house exhibitions.
