Modernity
Stockholm
Mid-20th-century Scandi smorgasbord
Despite being founded in 1998 by Scotsman Andrew Duncanson, Stockholm store Modernity specializes
in 20th-century Scandi design classics, with a jaw-dropping selection and gallery-level prices to
match. Now in larger premises, the store mixes big names like Hans J Wegner and Poul Kjaerholm
with surprising, less familiar pieces, such as a rare wooden giraffe figure by Kay Bojesen for
Rosendahl, Stig Lindberg’s pastel-hued, textured voluptuous Fiftes pots.
The other galleries mentioned:
Spazio Rossana Orlandi (Milan), Vincon (Barcelona), The Frozen Fountain (Amsterdam),
Moma Design Store, SoHo (New York), The Future Perfect (New York), Lawson-Fenning (Los Angeles),
Driade (Milan), Chee Soon & Fitzgerald (Sidney), Caravane (Paris), Mint (London),
Svenskt Tenn (Stockholm), Blanc d’Ivoire (Paris), Moss (New York).
