Desk designed by Severin Hansen for Haslev,
Denmark. 1960s.

Rosewood.

Simplicity and an angular silhouette make this rosewood desk a striking mid-century collectible. It has four elegant drawers and four long tapered legs. Produced by the renowned Danish manufacturer Haslev, this model is one of Severin Hansen's most well-known designs. The desk's miter joints, where the legs meet the apron, are typical for Hansen. This example is the larger version with four drawers; there is also a smaller version with three drawers.

Little is known about Severin Hansen's life, and yet his designs show exceptional craftsmanship and use of materials. Almost all of his table designs were realised in rosewood, one of the rarest and most beautiful woods.
