Easy chair designed by Viggo S. Jörgensen and Hans Christian Hansen, for Johannes Hansen,
Denmark, 1935.

Oak frame, cognac leather and brass nails.

The curved, voluptuous armrests of this extremely comfortable chair are remarkable. They soften the otherwise boxy shape. Viggo S. Jörgensen and Hans Christian Hansen designed this model for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark in 1935.

The chair’s back legs offer strong support by kicking out for extra balance. Generous upholstery provides excellent comfort—the cognac leather has a beautiful heavy grain and is secured with elegant brass studs.

The Danish furniture maker Johannes Hansen produced wooden furniture that stands out because of its exceptional quality. He was one of the founders of the Copenhagen Cabinet Maker’s Guild.

Model presented at The Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark, 1935. Literature: Grete Jalk [ed.]: “40 Years of Danish Furniture Design”, vol. 1, p. 212.
