Description:

This elegant brass floor lamp is adjustable in height and stands on turned mahogany feet. Other models by Josef Frank have all-brass bases, but this lamp’s charming wooden elevation adds lightness to the overall design.

Josef Frank saw lighting as an essential part of creating a warm and livable interior—never just a source of illumination, but a tool to shape atmosphere and mood. He rejected harsh, central ceiling lights in favour of multiple light sources placed at different levels throughout a room, believing this made spaces feel more natural and human.

Josef Frank (1885–1967) was an Austrian-born architect and designer who became a central figure in Swedish design after emigrating to Sweden in the 1930s. Originally trained in Vienna, he was associated with the early modernist movement but later distanced himself from its rigidity. In Sweden, he began a long and fruitful collaboration with Svenskt Tenn, where he developed a more expressive, human-centred approach to interiors. His work—ranging from furniture and textiles to lighting—is known for its vibrant patterns, organic forms, and emphasis on comfort and individuality.
