Description:
Model presented at The Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark in 1936.

Freestanding two-seater highback sofa. The seat, back, sides, and integrated armrests are upholstered in the patinated Niger leather. The high back and softly curved wings evoke a sense of privacy and enclosure, a form rooted in 18th-century English and French tradition, here reinterpreted with the understated elegance of Danish design.

These sofas were produced to order in Henningsen’s own workshop and were never made in large numbers, making surviving examples particularly rare. As with all of Henningsen’s work, the piece reflects his uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship, comfort, and refined proportion.
