This Swedish flat-woven rug from 1956 is titled "Flickorna i fönstret" (The Girls in the Window). It was designed by Edna Martin (1908-2003). The abstract motif is achieved using the kelim technique and a range of intense colours.

The monogram SH stands for Svenskt Hemslöjd, the Swedish Handicraft Association, of which Martin was the artistic director between 1945 and 1951. Previously, Edna Martin had worked for the design company Svenskt Tenn; she was a designer of functional and interior decoration textiles.
