Sofa and armchair ‘Divina’ designed by Arne Norell, for Norell Möbler
Sweden, 1950s

This “Divina” sofa and armchair model combines the Swedish designer Arne Norell’s use of sculptural forms with his undeniable emphasis on comfort — the deep, integrated seat cushions and voluptuous armrests ensure relaxed seating. The set is sturdy and aesthetically contrasting with typically 50s, humorous drumstick legs. The generous two-seater sofa and the armchair are newly upholstered in the most luxurious Boucle fabric by one of Sweden’s best reupholsters.

Arne Norell is known for his functional and comfortable furniture designs; his chair “The Thumb” received critical acclaim. In 1954, he started his workshop in Solna, Sweden, and later moved to Småland, Sweden, where he founded his own company known today as Norell Möbel AB.
