Swedish Grace sofa, anonymous,
Sweden, 1930s.

Lacquered wood and re-upholstery.

This generous two-seater sofa from the 1930s is a typical example of the Swedish Grace style, one of the twentieth century’s briefest yet most remarkable design periods. The shape resembles a simplified version of the nineteenth-century Swedish “Karl Johan” sofa. The original green-painted frame and extraordinarily comfortable seat cushions make this sofa particularly attractive. The sofa has been newly upholstered in a cotton mix fabric.
