Josef Frank was an Austrian born designer and architect who moved to Sweden at the onset of the Second World War. From 1934, he worked with Estrid Ericson as the lead designer for the Stockholm design store Svenskt Tenn. His design ethos was to include natures textures and colours, and to avoid the stark aesthetic of Modernism that had become so popular in the 1920s. Frank came to be known as the father of “Swedish Modern” as we see it today.
