Purchased directly from the artist as a 50th year anniversary gift in July 1964, thence by descent.

Born in 1932 in Lidköping, Stig Carlsson started his ceramic education at Konstfack in Stockholm before continuing in Italy and Spain. In the early stages of his career, Carlsson worked under the mentorship of Gunnar Nylund at Rörstrand. In 1955 he starting working at  IFÖ Verken in Bromölla, where he assumed the role of chief designer and specialised in creating chamotte garden urns. He went on to work for Jie Gantofta in the late 1960s.


By the mid-1970s, Carlsson established his own studio in Nyhamnsläge. This studio became a creative hub where he crafted a variety of unique items, including ceramics, nail sculptures, and wall art. His craft extended to numerous public works and decorative projects.
