Leather, tubular frame and mouldings of chromed metal, sides & back of synthetic material with mother-of-pearl effect.
“Star” is an armchair conceived by Swedish designer Mats Theselius in collaboration with the manufacturer Källemo. Executed circa 2009, this limited‑edition piece (of a run of 360) blends sculptural presence with refined materiality. The chair features a slim tubular chrome frame, a generously proportioned seat and back upholstered in leather, and distinctive outer panelling of pearlescent synthetic material with a subtle mother‑of‑pearl finish.
The form presents a softly curved backrest enveloping the sitter, contrasting with the crisp geometry of the structural frame. While firmly rooted in contemporary craftsmanship, the material references and details (such as riveted edges) recall industrial aesthetic cues—marking it as a thoughtful intersection of function and design expression.
The Star chair is part of a numbered edition of 360. Its structure combines a tubular steel frame with a moulded shell in synthetic material and leather upholstery. The outer panels feature a pearlescent finish, fastened with exposed rivets along the edges. Materials should be evaluated for signs of surface wear, patina to the chrome, and the condition of upholstery and panel joints, which may vary depending on use and handling over time.
