The 'China Hat' lamp by Josef Frank is one of the more whimsical and instantly recognisable lighting designs produced by Svenskt Tenn, the influential Swedish design company where Frank worked from the 1930s onwards. The name 'China Hat' refers to the wide, flared shape of the shade, reminiscent of traditional East Asian conical hats as well as a rather playful nod to the silhouette - Frank was known to freely borrow and combine influences from across time periods and cultures.
