Description:

In 1928, Aino and Alvar Aalto established a professional relationship with renowned Danish designer. That same year, Henningsen's signature ceiling lights were commissioned for the interior of Lounais-Suomen Maalaistentalo (Southwest Finland Landbo House). Additionally, the Aaltos integrated one of Henningsen's distinctive red ceiling lamps into their newly constructed apartment within the Maalaistentalo premises. A detailed depiction of the PH lamps and their significance was presented by Aino Aalto in a 1929 article for The Architect magazine.

In 1936, upon relocating to their residence at Riihitie 20, Helsinki, the Aaltos prominently displayed the red PH lamp over their dining area. This iconic piece is visible in a 1941 photograph, pictured below,  captured by Aino Aalto, showing a family breakfast setting.

Stamped.
