Description:

This set of ten dining chairs, known as the Red Chair, was designed by Kaare Klint in 1928 for Danish cabinetmaker Rud Rasmussen. Regarded as a landmark in modern Danish furniture design, the Red Chair reflects Klint’s pioneering commitment to proportion, ergonomics and craftsmanship.

Constructed in solid mahogany and upholstered in natural leather, the chairs feature brass nailhead trim and a gently curved seat for enhanced comfort. Klint’s design is rooted in classical furniture forms, but his meticulous attention to scale and human measurements established new standards in functionalist design.

Produced by Rud Rasmussen, one of Denmark’s most esteemed furniture workshops, these chairs represent the early development of what would become the Danish Modern movement. The Red Chair remains a defining example of 20th-century Scandinavian design, celebrated for its architectural clarity, material honesty and enduring refinement.
