Description:

The ‘Brun Jord’ tapestry, designed by Kirsten Gregers Jensen in 1992, captures the artist’s masterful balance between structure and movement. This handwoven wool tapestry features an abstract composition in shades of brown, white, black, and grey, where sweeping curves and intersecting planes create a dynamic yet harmonious visual rhythm.

Jensen’s refined use of earthy tones evokes a deep connection to the Nordic landscape, while her precise weaving technique transforms geometric abstraction into something organic and tactile. The work reflects her ongoing exploration of “non-colours” and her sensitivity to texture, scale, and light.

Kirsten Gregers Jensen (1928–1998) was a Norwegian-Danish tapestry artist and furniture architect whose work stands among the finest examples of Scandinavian textile modernism. Trained in Trondheim and Copenhagen, she established her weaving studio in 1957 and exhibited widely across the Nordic art scene. Her pieces are represented in Designmuseum Danmark, the Ny Carlsberg Foundation, and the Danish Arts Foundation.

In ‘Brun Jord’, Jensen’s distinctive language of form and tone reaches an expressive maturity, combining material precision with quiet emotional depth.
