Glass.
Produced during Sundberg’s collaboration with the Swedish glassworks Orrefors, this cylindrical vase from 2003 reflects his interest in surface as both structure and visual language. The vertical black lines, irregular in spacing and thickness, wrap around the white glass body in a rhythm that recalls hand-drawn marks or abstracted script. While minimalist in palette, the piece resists uniformity—emphasising variation and gesture over mechanical repetition. As in much of Sundberg’s glass work, form is restrained, allowing surface treatment to drive the visual character. The decoration appears to shift when viewed from different angles, reinforcing a sense of movement within the otherwise still form.
