Stoneware with matte white Carrara glaze.
The “Veckla” vase was created by Stig Lindberg, one of Sweden’s most celebrated post-war designers. The name "Veckla" means "folded" in Swedish. Lindberg joined Gustavsberg, the Swedish porcelain company based in the town of the same name, the late 1930s and succeeded Wilhelm Kåge as art director in 1949. Like Kåge Lindberg initially trained as a painter which is evident in the fluid, abstract approach to form.
Stamped.
